About the Festival

Since the 1950s, the Western Downs Regional community of Miles and the smaller towns that surround it come together biannually in September to celebrate everything we value about living in the bush. The festival spans four days with an eclectic mix of authentic and interactive bush experiences.

It is a perfect opportunity for visitors to experience vastly different aspects of life in the bush from 4WD, fishing and farm tours, to galleries, gala balls, tractor pulls, beard appreciation, tough bugger obstacle courses, and live entertainment. You can even visit the homes and backyards of some of our local residents to view their unique collections of vintage and often quirky memorabilia.

From events that reflect our past and our present way of life, to experiencing the natural wonders of our District that enable you to breathe, truly breathe surrounded by our big, big skies and wide open spaces. We have so much to be grateful for, and we're keen to share it with you.

What do underground WW2 ammunition bunkers have to do with getting back to the bush at our festival this September?Possum Park and it’s historic bunkers (plus their old restored Vickers Viscount ✈️) are usually only available for staying guests to see. On Friday 10th September 2021 ALL our festival visitors are welcome to tour this little hidden gem in Queensland’s bush, not far outside of Miles. Here’s what @our.hecktic.life had to say about this spot...“Bunker bush walking this morning at Possum Park. This camp ground was once an ammunition store for the Australian Army in the second world war. Some bunkers have been converted to accommodation. Would recommend for something different. A big walk for little legs but a lovely way to spot wildflowers.”📷 www.instagram.com/our.hectic.life ...
