Gil Weir

Just 6km from Miles is Gil Weir.  It’s a lovely place to stop and let the world go past. Also suitable for small vessels and paddle craft when water levels are at correct height with a concrete boat ramp to launch your tinny.

Facilities at the weir include toilets, wood-fired barbeques and picnic tables. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on lead at all times.

Gil Weir is a quiet, relaxing camping spot where you can enjoy the birdlife and local pelicans who love to roost on the old trees across the creek.

Access: Travel 4.5km south of Miles on Condamine Road, turn right onto Gil Weir Access Road and proceed a further 1.2km to Weir.

Fishing

Throw a line into Dogwood Creek at Gil Weir, where the waters are stocked with Murray Cod and Golden Perch (fishing permit required).
